Halloween Trick-or-Treat Guide

Your Trick-or-Treat Neighborhood Guide

Sourced from Roberta Brown at Mommy Poppins, TimeOut and my amazing clients

Get your costumes and candy baskets ready because Halloween is just a few days away! If you're looking for somewhere fun to go trick-or-treating, here are a few neighborhoods that love to go all out on this spooky holiday.

WESTCHESTER

82nd Street
There are a few streets in the Westchester area that go all out on Halloween! Check out 82nd street between Dunbarton and Emerson!

PLAYA VISTA

The Runway
If you want to start Halloween early, The Runway is hosting a Halloween Bash on Sunday, October 30th from 11am - 3pm. There will be crafts, games, a photo booth, spooky characters, a petting zoo, and trick-or-treating at select stores! It's also a great neighborhood for trick-or-treating based on the walkability, high-density and lots of fun decorations!

EAGLE ROCK

Hill Drive
Hill Drive is the pride of the East Side when it comes to trick-or-treating! The neighborhood north of Colorado is such a quaint little pocket with tree-lined streets and diverse architectural styles and full of hipsters. They take their Halloween decorations and trick-or-treating seriously!

VENICE

Venice Canals
The Venice Canals are an awesome spot to walk around at any time of year, and Halloween is no exception! People don't just have their homes to decorate, but their boats too! This pedestrian (and canoe!) friendly neighborhood has lots of fun and candy to offer.

BEVERLY HILLS

The Flats
The Beverly Hills Flats neighborhood is a great walkable neighborhood where you can enjoy good treats, memorable decorations and some epic real estate. The area is roughly defined by Sunset Boulevard on the north, Doheny on the east, Whittier on the west, and Santa Monica Blvd. to the south. It's even home to the notable Witch House at 516 Walden Drive.

SANTA MONICA

North of Montana
There is plenty of fine trick-or-treating in Santa Monica, and memorably decorated houses heading north on almost any street from Montana Avenue, but 16th and Georgina is so legendary that it's spoken as one word. The parade of trick-or-treaters heading up 16th Street becomes a denser crowd with every passing block heading north, past extravagantly decorated houses, with many homeowners out on the curb. The climax of the evening is the haunted house at 16th and Georgina, where the wait can be as long as an hour!

CULVER CITY

Veterans Park
The homes in the neighborhood around Veterans Park and Culver High School go wild decorating, while neighbors just across Ballona Creek, around Lindberg Park, would argue that they own Halloween. Either side of the creek, there is a whole lot of spookin' and a whole lot of treatin' going on.

PACIFIC PALISADES

The Alphabet Streets
Fresh sea air beckons in the Palisades, and neighbors get in the spirit every year with plenty of treats and first-class decorations. The densely populated and flat Alphabet Streets north of Sunset are some of the best, most trick-or-treater-friendly streets, with names that go in alphabetical order, which is good for remembering where you started and how to get back!

TOLUCA LAKE

The Flats
Toluca Lake is known as a popular home for TV and movie executives. Come Halloween, it’s also a highly popular trick-or-treating location, as people head down from their homes in the hills. Bob Hope’s former house on Ledge Avenue and Moorpark Street is a great place to start your trek. Although he and Dolores Hope are no longer passing out full-size candy bars and kazoos, neighbors continue the tradition of a lively Halloween spirit.

LARCHMONT / HANCOCK PARK

Windsor Square
This area runs from Wilshire to Beverly, from Arden to Van Ness (including the mayor's mansion), and has quite the Halloween scene. Expect lots of company enjoying the decorations and an abundance of treats. Norton and Van Ness south of Beverly are particularly good. You could also go to the houses in Hancock Park along Rossmore.
